Outcomes:
Explain, apply and justify a range of effective communication methods used in different business-related situations.

Description:
Your job is to compare and evaluate the communication methods used on two business websites. This assignment is to be completed individually. There is a group assignment alternative, but you will need to discuss this with me before starting work.

Assessment Criteria:
• Inquiry into aspects of communication using print and online resources.
• Analysis of business information and data.
• Demonstrated knowledge of communication and its relationship to business objectives and strategy.
• A demonstrated awareness of types and purposes of information being communicated.
• Demonstrated understanding of how relationships and audience alter the style and method of communication.
• An evaluation of the effectiveness of the methods used, including a discussion of barriers which may have limited the effectiveness of communication.
• Recommended solutions for overcoming barriers to communication for selected business situations.
• Quality of discussion and the amount of detail provided.

Required tasks:
1. Identify the company and the type of business.
2. Summarise the company’s mission, goals and objectives.
3. Describe how these are communicated on the website.
4. What business strategies are evident on the website?
5. Describe the image or “feel” of the website.
6. Identify the purposes for which the website is used by a) the company and b) the customers.
7. Identify the target audience for the website. How has the website been tailored to a specific audience?
8. Create a diagram or table that identifies the information being communicated by this website and the method specific to each piece of information.
9. Identify and explain the most effective method of communication.
10. Suggest improvements to the website to allow for more effective communication and justify your suggestions.
